astara acquires Nissan operations in Poland, strengthening its partnership with the brand

  • The Open Mobility Company expands its portfolio in Poland, acquiring the distribution of Nissan’s vehicles and spare parts.
  • The agreement follows astara’s successful results in Austria and Switzerland since it took over Nissan’s business in 2022.
  • astara is committed to adding value to its customers in Poland with an expanded brand portfolio and a full ecosystem of mobility solutions.

Madrid, September 1st, 2023 – astara, one of the world's leading mobility companies, has completed the acquisition of Nissan's operations in Poland, encompassing the distribution of new vehicles, parts, and services. This transaction strengthens astara’s relationship with the global vehicle manufacturer, after successfully operating Nissan’s business in Austria and Switzerland since 2022.

astara’s acquisition of the Japanese brand’s business in Poland also consolidates the company’s strategic expansion in Europe that it has begun over the last few years. The company’s primary focus will be to expand the Nissan brand, working closely with its current dealer network, aiming to improve their performance by delivering new solutions to the market.

Jorge Navea, CEO at astara commented:

“At astara, we are honored to add Nissan to our distribution activities in Poland. Such an innovative and customer-oriented brand is a great asset to our Polish portfolio, aligned with astara’s vision for the future of mobility. We have proven in other countries that we can proudly represent the brand to its loyal customers, dealer network and business partners.“

Sinan Ozkok, Managing Director Independent Markets & Region Vice President Business Development, Nissan AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe & Oceania), said:

“We are delighted to have finalized our agreement with astara and have them on board as our new importer partner in Poland. With their proven track record in the automotive distribution business in Europe and forward-looking approach, we are confident that this partnership will ensure sustainable growth in the market. We look forward to working closely with astara in the best interest of our customers, employees and dealers in Poland.”

With this addition to its operations in Poland, astara will be able to deliver customers a complete offering of mobility products and services.

astara’s state-of-the-art digital platform allows the company to provide tailored data-driven solutions to meet specific market needs, through personalized interactions during the entire customer journey.

astara has a strong presence in Europe and in Poland, where it is already the importer for Isuzu and Mitsubishi. This acquisition opens doors for further expansion in the market in line with the company’s global growth strategy, where astara aims to scale to 25 countries by 2025, building upon its current presence in 19 countries.

The contract between Nissan and astara was signed in May and officially ratified in July with the approval of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) in Poland. To ensure a seamless transition with no disruption to Nissan customers, all Nissan dealer agreements and employees in Poland will be transferred to astara.

Nissan places its trust in astara's capabilities as a global leader in automotive distribution. With an exclusive offering of 34 brands in 19 markets, over 200,000 units sold worldwide in 2022 and a commercial network of over 1,700 dealer partners, astara is ready and prepared to ensure the viability of Nissan's operations in Poland.
