Madrid, October 24, 2023 – astara, a leading global mobility company, publishes today is first sustainability report in which it outlines its commitment across its different business units and its impact on society through mobility.
The report, based on an in-depth analysis of 2022 internal data, is the result of astara’s transformation and its efforts to make mobility more accessible and sustainable.
As part of its main objectives, the company aims to optimize the use of vehicles to support the circular economy, as well as offer and guarantee access to solutions that make the way people move more efficient.
To achieve this, astara relies on data intelligence and connectivity. The company’s proposal includes the design of smart cities, optimization of fleet management, and the advisory of companies and public institutions to ensure a more efficient mobility in sustainable and inclusive urban environments.
Jorge Navea, Chief Executive Officer, astara commented:
“We are committed to providing a model of open mobility that benefits the planet, with a business model that is a catalyst for sustainability. astara does this by providing our users with a way to move that is open, flexible, and driven by cutting-edge technological innovation.”
Carbon Neutrality in 2027
The company commits to achieving carbon neutrality across all its operations by 2027 (scope 1 & 2, or the direct and indirect emissions derived from its operation) through two key milestones: consume 100% renewable energy, and the electrification of its fleet.
In addition, astara is part of the Climate Group EV100, a global initiative that brings together companies from different industries that share a common commitment towards the electrification of their fleets by 2030. Through this initiative, the company joins a unique community of environmental leaders that actively participate in advocacy activities and share their best practices regarding electrification and sustainability.
Moreover, the company’s commitment to electrification extends beyond its own fleet, encompassing the brands it represents and distributes, as well as its car sharing and subscription services. In addition, astara has implemented in various markets where it operates specific sustainability initiatives such as the installation of photovoltaic panels, the procurement of electricity from renewable sources, the implementation of energy management systems that enhance both efficiency and recycling, circular economy programs, and water management projects.
Transformation from Within
The Open Mobility Company’s change started from within, through local and global initiatives that promote the diversity of its teams (age, gender, nationality) and attract talent from all industries.
Rocío Rufilanchas, Chief People & Sustainability Officer, astara commented:
“Our ambitious social commitments are generating a very positive impact on our teams and the communities in which we operate. We are launching innovative global programs that focus on expanding professional development opportunities, wellness, diversity, and inclusion.”

Among the initiatives, “En(abled)” stands out as a unique program that promotes the inclusion and employability development of people with disabilities. The program, inspired by an ongoing initiative in Chile, has already benefited 80 employees and will progressively be implemented across the different countries that make up the astara network. Other important initiatives that promote diversity include Women Pioneers, Women@astara, and Ageless Talent.
The mobility company is aware of the importance of being able to count on the best allies, who are committed to the same environmental and social objectives, to achieve a profound and lasting global and local impact. Due to this, astara is a proud member of the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
