Zurich, 26th of February 2024 – Astara, one of the world's leading mobility companies, has been appointed importer of MG vehicles and aftersales in Switzerland, expanding the global cooperation between Astara and MG Motor. Astara is currently the importer of MG vehicles in two regions (Latin America and Europe), with operations in Peru, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
Jorge Navea, CEO of Astara, commented: “We are really pleased that MG continues to place their trust in Astara to handle their distribution in a key market like Switzerland. With their range of battery-powered and hybrid vehicles, MG is completely aligned with our commitment to a more sustainable mobility and we are looking forward to helping MG bring these solutions to the Swiss market.”
William Wang: Managing Director of MG Motor Europe added: “Astara has an excellent track record of supporting MG customers in Europe, so we are confident they will deliver those same high standards in the important Swiss market. MG is looking forward to returning to Switzerland where we will be engaging with new customers as well as the many enthusiasts of the marque.”
Switzerland is one of the few European markets in which MG was not represented. With a high demand for BEV vehicles, the Swiss market is one of the most competitive and advanced in terms of electrification, which makes this a perfect match for MG’s award-winning battery-powered range.
Astara began its operations in Switzerland in 2019. Since then, the portfolio represented in this market has grown to 10 well-known brands and a complete ecosystem of mobility solutions. Astara passenger car sales in the country in 2023 exceeded 20,000 units, reaching almost 8% market share.
MG, one of the leading automotive brands in Europe in 2023 with over 230,000 units sold, has a wide range of passenger cars and SUVs, powered with a full choice of ICE, HEV, PHEV and BEV powertrains. In the company’s 100th anniversary year, MG will launch the EV Cyberster a dramatically styled convertible roadster which marks a much-anticipated return to sports car production.
