Astara's heartfelt response to the flood crisis in Southern Poland
Kontich/Warsaw, October 10, 2024. In September 2024, southern Poland was hit by severe flooding, prompting an immediate and compassionate response from Astara Poland and its dedicated employees. The speed and enthusiasm with which the team mobilised to support those affected was truly inspiring.
When Piotr Laube, managing director of Astara Poland, proposed the initiative, many employees came forward to give their time and effort to help. He also approached the dealers of all three Astara brands, encouraging them to join in to help. Their response was extremely positive and, for a few days, Astara's Warsaw office was transformed into a temporary warehouse filled with essential materials for the flood victims.
The entire operation was efficiently coordinated by Artur Wojciechowski, who ensured efficient logistics, effective communication and well-organised planning. Between 17 and 27 September 2024, the team managed to collect an impressive 2,500 items, including water, food, heating equipment and essential items for families and animals. In addition, a financial donation of PLN 1,200 from Astara employees was used to purchase essential non-prescription medicines for children and adults.
On 27 September, the team set off in a convoy of eight vehicles to the flood-affected regions. They visited several towns, including Klodzko, Tłumaczów and Ścinawka Górna, providing not only physical supplies but also practical support in the clean-up. Throughout the journey, the team remained in close contact with local volunteers to gather information about the needs of those affected by the floods on an ongoing basis, ensuring that aid reached those most in need. At the same time, they liaised with the Przystanek Rodzina Foundation and donated support to foster families identified by the foundation that were affected by the floods.
This initiative is powerful proof that teamwork and collective goodwill can have a significant impact in times of crisis. The combined efforts of all those involved not only provided immediate relief, but also strengthened the sense of community and solidarity in the face of adversity.
Commenting on the action, Piotr Laube expressed his gratitude: “I would like to extend my deepest thanks to all those who contributed to this noble cause, and in particular to Artur, who enthusiastically undertook the coordination of the entire action. I truly believe that our joint actions and dedication have made a significant impact on the lives of those affected by the floods. Together we can continue to lift spirits and support our communities in need.”
