MG is reshaping its distribution model in Belgium and Luxembourg as of July 1, with Astara guiding the transition to an independent sales organization.

  • Astara and MG have jointly made a strategic decision to transform MG into a National Sales Company (NSC) under MG Europe.
  • In mutual agreement with MG Europe, the MG brand will be distributed directly by MG in the BeLux region as of 1 July 2026.
  • Astara is proud of an exceptional trajectory in which it has firmly anchored MG in the market.

Mechelen, 7 May 2026 - Mobility group Astara announces an important next step in the evolution of the MG brand in Belgium and Luxembourg. As part of the further development of MG’s European strategy, distribution in the BeLux will be taken over by the manufacturer itself through its own national sales organisation.

Supporting a strategic transition

Astara and MG have reached a joint agreement to ensure this transition takes place in a structured and efficient manner by the end of the first half of 2026. Astara will play an active role in guaranteeing continuity of operations for all stakeholders.

Astara emphasises the importance of the current dealer network in MG’s success in Belgium and Luxembourg. MG is now working on a future-oriented framework with the intention that current distributors can continue to fulfil their role.

During the transition period, Astara and MG will work closely together to ensure a smooth and seamless transfer of distribution activities. The aim is to minimise any disruption for dealers and customers and to ensure a stable transition.

MG’s success thanks to Astara

This evolution follows the strong growth MG has achieved in the BeLux in recent years, supported by Astara’s efforts and the backing of the local dealer network.

Astara is pleased that the brand can begin a new chapter from a strong market position.

After the launch of MG at the 2020 motor show, where the first model was introduced, Astara quickly developed the brand into a solid fixture in the BeLux. The range now includes nine models, and MG is today the largest Chinese brand, with a market share in Belgium of over 1.5%. In 2025, around 6,000 vehicles were registered in Belgium.

As of 1 July, Astara will continue to focus on the other brands within its distribution portfolio and on any new opportunities that may arise.
